Myakka State Park Family Photo Session to Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Life is full of ups and downs and to see a couple celebrate fifty years together is always amazing.  From the moment Joe reached out to me to tell me that his parents were flying down to Florida to celebrate this milestone and wanted family pictures taken, I was honored to be chosen.  From our first conversation we knew that we would use Myakka State Park, east of Sarasota, as the backdrop for this family session.  The variety of old Florida trees, the Canopy trail, suspension bridge, river views, benches, and log cabin were just some of the backdrops we used but the real star of the day was the family.  Joe and Cathy have two beautiful children who were champions when it came to posing and being patient.  Al and Shirley were so kind and sweet and seemed as happy to watch everything going on behind the scenes as they were in front of the camera.

My two favorite quotes of the day came from Al when I tried to give him directions to elicit a response.  The first time I asked him to whisper something sweet in his wife's ear and he replied, "What are we having for dinner?"

The biggest smile came though when I asked him to look into his wife's eyes and he said, "I can't do it."  I don't know why but it made everyone laugh.  I'm sure that in fifty years of marriage he has not only whispered thousands of sweet sentiments into his wife's ears but has looked into her beautiful face every day.

It was easy to see that this family loved each other with all their hearts and that although they may not live in the same state anymore, that the time they are able to spend together is valuable.  We are very fortunate to have been able to get to know this wonderful family and hope to follow them throughout the rest of their journey.

I love meeting and photographing families and each person has a story to tell.  Unfortunately there's never enough time or space to share everything but here's a little story and a few pictures of the amazing people I get to work with.
