Fire photography isn't my usual genre but I've been watching the Englewood Fire Department use a home in our neighborhood as a training exercise for the last couple of months. It's my understanding that the owner is going to build a new home on his land but wanted the firefighters to be able to train both new cadets and experienced firefighters. As I was out for my morning bike ride, I noticed increased activity at the house and found out that it was all coming down. I got permission to photograph their training and came back with the camera. I spent three hours with the department and watched in fascination as these professionals did an amazing job. Everyone was so kind and happy to be able to do this. At times I got permission to approach the house even closer although I was mostly using a 200-500mm lens and could stay away from the heat and smoke. I took over 400 photographs which I gave the fire department for their use. Here are a few of my favorites, because of the raging fire of course.
