Manasota Key Beach Family Photoshoot with Genna and Andrew

Even though I'm at the beach every week photographing families, I never get tired of it.  Each family is different and I know that every single day at the beach is slightly different.  Once in a while we have the "perfect day" with no wind to mess up your hair, just enough clouds in the sky to get a beautiful sunset, and it's a comfortable temperature without humidity.  But the truth is that Mother Nature has her own agenda and it's the uniqueness of each day that makes a session interesting.

On the evening of Gennavieve and Andrew's family session, the typical summer thunderstorm clouds starting rolling in as Mike and I drove to Blind Pass Beach to meet them.  As we sat in the parking lot waiting for them to arrive, Mike asked if we should reschedule the shoot with them.  Knowing they had spent time getting ready, I wanted to at least try to get in some photos before the inevitable rain started.

When the family arrived, we decided to have our session and hope for the best.  With the clouds creating a beautiful soft light on the beach, we went directly over to my favorite tree tunnel and captured some family photos there.

Then we headed down to the water and took some group photos.  The sun rays behind them coming out from the clouds make for a gorgeous background.  A few minutes later we turned to see a rainbow so we took advantage of that!

This was the baby's first vacation at the beach, so it was important to capture all of her cuteness and she laid on her blanket and dipped her toes in the Gulf.

Without the harsh sun blinding the family, we captured Pam and Tim separately with the kids.

We ended our session just before sunset as the lightning started flashing in the distance.  I was surprised that we got the whole session done and captured a huge variety of photos.

Pam and Genna now have beautiful family photos displayed in their home.  Pam even told me that Genna left the session saying she might have found a new career...coordinating family photoshoots in the future!  I hope to see them again someday!

I love meeting and photographing families and each person has a story to tell.  Unfortunately there's never enough time or space to share everything but here's a little story and a few pictures of the amazing people I get to work with.
